Scale Strategy

Scale Strategy — The Girls

Scale Strategy is the final step in understanding the clues your Body Elements give you. This step helps you understand the scale of prints and accessories that bring out your natural beauty. You want to make sure prints and accessories don’t take center stage. They’re supporting actors in your presentation. On the other hand, they shouldn’t be so small that they don’t contribute to it either.

Scale of prints and accessories is determined by the actual size along with its visual weight. To learn more about how to determine the scale of a print or accessory and determine your Scale Strategy go to: Scale Strategy — Bringing It Together.

Scale Strategy

Scale Strategy

Determining your Scale Strategy is a 2 step process:

  1. Combine the scale clues for Color Skin, Hair, Eyes with Body Frame Size
  2. Adjust step 1 for the Body Proportion scale clues

Step 1

Scale Strategy Step 1

You combine the scale clues from the color of your skin, hair and eyes with the size of your skeleton. This creates your overall Scale Strategy. For example, if your scale clue for your skin, hair and eyes is large and the scale clue for your body frame is small, then you have an overall strategy of medium. On the other hand, if the clue from the color of your skin, hair and eyes is medium and your Body Frame Size is large, then your overall strategy is medium/large.

Step 2

Scale Strategy Step 2

Adjust your overall Scale Strategy for a particular area of your Body Proportion. For example if your overall strategy is medium and your Body Proportion between your chin and bust is long, then increase the scale of prints and accessories in that area to between medium and large. On the other hand if that area is short, then decrease the scale of prints and accessories in that area to between small and medium. To determine the exact size, play around with it. You’ll know the right size for you by how you feel. If you feel light, then that’s the size. If you feel heavy, then try another size.

Summary

Now that the Girls know the range of their best scale of prints and accessories, the fun starts. They should try on different prints and accessories in their ranges to determine exactly the right sizes. For example, Monica should wear necklaces that are medium/large, so she needs to determine the exact size that works for her. She’ll know the right size when wearing it because she’ll feel light. Once she understands the scale of the prints and accessories she wears, she’ll know by sight if it works for her without trying it on.

Over the past 6 weeks the Girls have learned about the clues for design lines and colors their bodies are giving them. The next step is to go to their closets to determine why their favorite outfits work for them. They’ll look at the outfits’ design lines and colors and will compare them to their bodies’ clues. Each week each Girl will evaluate her favorite outfit. Next week Sam’s outfit is up first. The post is called Analyze Favorite Outfit — Sam.
