Shopping for Bras -- Sam's Favorite

Shopping For Bras — Sam

Shopping for bras isn’t something Sam does very often. She had never been professionally fitted for one before because it never occurred to her that bras need to be professionally fitted. Her friend Monica read that wearing the right bra and bra size is important to make clothes fit better and more importantly to give one’s breasts better support. As a result, one feels supported and able to tap into one’s confidence. Sam listened to Monica and since Sam and her friends have been on a journey to determine which clothes enhance their natural beauty allowing them to tap into their confidence, she agreed to find the perfect bra for herself.

Keep reading to learn what the bra specialist told Sam.

Shopping For Bras -- Measurement

When the bra specialist measured Sam’s ribcage and bust, the measurements were 31 inches and 35 inches respectively. The specialist told Sam that a 31 inch ribcage equates to a bra band of 34 and the difference between 35 and 31 is 4 inches which equates to a C cup size. Hence, the starting point for Sam trying on bras is 34C.

Shopping for Bras -- Bust Shape

Sam told the bra specialist that her bust faces outward and she really doesn’t have any cleavage. The specialist said Sam’s bust shape is East/West and she should look for bras with underwire and slings. Slings start at the side top and go down to the bottom center of the cup. A sling pushes the breast to the front. Her bra specialist told her that the best styles of bras for her and her lifestyle are a t-shirt bra and minimizer.

Shopping For Bras -- Type Of Bra

T-Shirt Bra

A t-shirt bra is a staple bra in every woman’s closet. Its main feature is that it can be worn under the thinnest of t-shirts yet it disappears. Traditionally it has mid-coverage, is seamless and smooth with molded cups creating a natural round shape.

Every bra brand has the classification of t-shirt bras. These are several which Sam tried on:

The one that fit her best was the Wacoal Perfect Primer.

Minimizer Bra

Most minimizer bras are worn to temporarily reduce the appearance of your bust by one size. However, many women wear them because of their structured full cups for support and wider straps. Sam liked the idea of the minimizer bras because she works in a male dominated world. Being in sports her whole life, she’s worn a lot of sports bras and feels comfortable in them.

The bra specialist recommended Wacoal and Bali:

The Wacoal Visual Effects fit her body the best.

Shopping For Bras -- Final Thoughts

Sam was surprised how wearing the right bra for her changed the appearance of the clothes she was wearing and more importantly how she felt. She found her posture totally changed for the better.

Sam bought both nude and black of the t-shirt and minimizer bras. She thought the minimizer bras would be great for work especially when visiting construction sites. Now she understands why she should use different types of bras for different occasions.

Sam is glad Monica suggested going shopping for bras and being professionally fitted. In the past 9 months, she’s learned how clothes change how she feels and now she’s feeling more confident in what she brings to those around her.

Next week Monica will share her experiences with the bra specialist. It’s called: Shopping For Bras — Monica.
