Shopping For Swimsuits -- Veronica

Shopping For Swimsuits — Veronica

Shopping for swimsuits was different for Veronica this time. In the past, she was indifferent about it. With her Body Shape, most swimsuits look okay on her; but, she always felt something was wrong. She never knew what it was. Most of the time she ended up with one piece suits because she felt better in them than two piece ones.

Now that Veronica has learned about her Body Proportions, she understands why she gravitates to one piece swimsuits. This time she looked for design lines that worked for her Body Proportions.

She’s excited to share what she learned and the swimsuit that works with her Body Elements.

Shopping For Swimsuits

Shopping For Swimsuits -- Veronica

Veronica was amazed how vertical lines changed the appearance of her short torso. It made all the difference. It wasn’t easy shopping for a swimsuit with all vertical lines. Most swimsuits have at least one horizontal line designed into it. She’s excited to wear this swimsuit on the beaches of Hawaii.

Design Line & Color Analysis

Silhouette

Veronica has an X Body Shape which falls into the curvy silhouette category. Like most swimsuits, this one has a curvy silhouette.

Horizontal Lines

For Veronica’s X Body Shape, she can place horizontal lines anywhere. On the other hand, her Body Proportions restricts the placement of these design lines. She’s short between her bust/waist, and waist/crotch. She’s long between her crotch/knees and knees/floor. As a result, her torso is much shorter than her legs. Wearing horizontal lines in her torso area makes it appear even shorter and her legs even longer. Veronica was right in shopping for swimsuits with no horizontal lines.

Vertical Lines

Because of Veronica’s short torso, vertical lines in this area are perfect for her Body Proportions. These design lines will make her torso appear in balance with her legs.

This swimsuit has several vertical lines. The first is in the neckline. This V neckline naturally brings the eye up and down creating length. The neckline also crosses over at the bust creating length below the bust and bringing the eye to the next vertical line.

In this area, there are several tucks going up to the bust and another set of tucks going down to the stomach and hip area. All these tucks create vertical lines creating length.

All in all, this swimsuit is a miracle suit for Veronica, creating length in her torso area.

Shape Of Design Lines

This Swimsuit’s v-neckline has an angular feel to it and the print has a polka dot pattern which has a curved design line shape. Many clothes in the fashion industry have mixed design line shapes.

Veronica has a heart Face Shape which falls into the curved category. The polka dots are perfect for her. The v-neckline isn’t her best option, but because it brings length to her torso, it works for her in that respect.

Color

Veronica has a color contrast profile of small/medium which means the relative lightness and darkness of colors she wears should be between low and medium. This swimsuit has a high color contrast, black and white. If she could’ve found a solid swimsuit with all the vertical lines, it would’ve been better.

Scale

The scale of the polka dots is small which works perfectly for Veronica. Her overall scale strategy is small/medium. Because her torso is short, she should decrease the scale in her torso to small.

Shopping For Swimsuits -- Summary

All in all, Veronica did a great job picking this swimsuit. It’s not easy finding a swimsuit with only vertical lines. Most have at least one horizontal line. By shopping for a swimsuit with vertical lines for her Body Proportions, she fully understands how this design line changes the overall feel of clothes and works to her advantage. She went from being neutral about wearing swimsuits to being excited to be on the beaches of Hawaii.
